Welcome to Wood'n'Stuff by Derek
Thank you for visiting my website. On the following pages you will see a selection of work that has been completed during the last 12 months or so.
Some of my work is to be personalised and some will be bespoke to your wishes and designs. For these I have added a contact button at the bottom of the page. Please do not hesitate to contact me to open a dialog so that I can understand exactly what you are looking for.
In the next section of this home page I will explain the difference in some of the terms that I use. This will help when looking/choosing between products.
The items I make are mostly novelty items, but novelty items with a function. I hope that some of them bring a smile to your face.
Please enjoy your time on the page and if you think of any ways that I can improve my service please let me know via the contact button.
Terms that I use
Hinged Rear Door/ Removable Bottom Plate/ Removable Top.
You will see these terms when dealing with the wooden birdhouses.
Normally at the end of a nesting season the house will be left with the remnants of a nest. This needs to be removed before another bird will attempt to nest in there. You will need access to the inside of the birdhouse to remove any debris and this is done in different ways on different types of my birdhouses.

Hinged Rear Door. This is the back view of one of my birdhouses and from this view you can see not only the hinged rear door but also the fast fix hanging plate.
One screw fitted to the wall or fence is all that is needed. The screw head then drops into the large hole in the inverted keyhole slot and the birdhouse will slide down to lock itself in position. It is as simple as that.
To access the inside at the end of a season just lift the box up and open the hinged rear door to remove the debris. Re-slot the birdhouse back into place.
This picture shows a bottom opening plate. It is held on by 2 screws and these are easily removed with a philips head screwdriver. The base is not glued as the rest of the house is, so after unscrewing a slight tap should remove the base plate.
Removable top is self explanatory as the top just lifts off.
