Some of the most effective birdhouses are made by using the natural beauty of the grain in the timber.
This can be planed and sanded wood or naturally aged timber that has been weathering for a couple of years.
Due to that fact that I use all re-cycled timber I very often do not see the natural grain until I start to plane the material down. Some of the most inspiring woodgrains have come from totally uninspiring pieces of wood. I hope they bring as much joy to you as they do to me.
